Certain dome and covert cameras are commonly sold with with a board type lens which is not suitable for all application, in certain situation, there's a need for a wider or narrow type lens. This section contains a wide range of board mounted lensed.
Lenses with a fixed iris can be used with consistent lighting conditions. These lenses rely on the camera's circuitry to adjust the shutter speed automatically. Fixed Iris lenses are generally cheaper than Auto-Iris models because they don't use any motorised components.
Manual Iris lenses work in a similar way to fixed iris lenses but with the addition of an adjustable iris. These lenses operate best when used in situation with consistent lighting conditions. By using a manual iris, they can be adjusted for commonl lighting conditions to lower the efforts of the cameras shutter speed changes. This type of lens is also popular with special applications such as License Plate recognition where the lighting conditions must be tightly controlled.
Auto Iris Lenses have built in motors to control the amount of light that reaches the imaging sensor. Auto Iris lenses are generally used in outdoor applications where lighting levels are not consistent, and or where shutter speed changes are not acceptable. DC Driven lenses are most common in the CCTV industry.
DC Driven, Auto Iris lenses are powered and controlled from the camera. The lens iris is adjusted accoring to the amount of light required by the imaging sensor. These are the most commonly used lenses.
Video Driven, Auto Iris lenses work in a similar way to DC Driven lenses, however, although they are powered from the camera, the lens determines the correct amount of light that passs through it and adjusts the iris accordingly. In previous years, security cameras relied on the lens to control the amount of light reaching the imaging sensor and required a Video Driven (Lens Controlled Iris) type of lens. Video Driven lenses are generally used in older style cameras that do not support the newer DC Driven lenses.
Megapixel lenses are polished and corrected to higher specifications to support the latest High Resolution CMOS Megapixel IP Cameras.
Motorised lenses provide remote zoom and focus control. These cameras are popular in situations where wide and narrow lens types are required on a single camera and need to be adjusted remotely. Commonly used in conjunction with Pan, Tilt Heads to provide a complete PTZ Camera System.

B&W Security Cameras generally perform better in low light situation because there is no need for complex Optical Filters to filter out the red (IR) light during the day. B&W Security Cameras are often used in specific situations where Machine Process Moniroting due to their very high resolution. Unlike color cameras, where imaging consists of Red, Green and Blue elements, B&W cameras utilise each element to produce their very high quality image.
Dome Cameras are self contained units ready to be installed. All domes include a lens, enclosure and bracket, making them a cost effective solution for close to medium range monitoring in indoor and outdoor applications.
In certain situations, especially in areas with consistent lighting conditions, there is not always a need for High End cameras to do a particular task. Colour cameras listed here are usefull for general monitoring of consistently lit areas.
IR Security Cameras are used in environments with very low or complete absense of ambient lighting. These cameras are designed to operate in complete darkness providing their own illumination from the built in Infra Red illuminating LEDs. They provide a good balance between lighting conditions and overall camera cost.
The cameras listed here are suitable for conditions with low or no ambient lighting. The Full body cameras include an advanced IR-Cut filter technolology which preserves correct color balance during the day and allow for ultra low light monitoring during the night.
Covert Cameras are designed to be disguised as common object such as smoke detectors, PIR alarm motion detectors sprinklers or other unobtrusive items designed not to be easily recognised as Video Surveillance equipment.
