ACCORDING to a comparative review undertaken by Albany police, CCTV cameras in the area have reduced anti-social behaviour around city nightspots by more than half.
The review compared incidents occurring between 18 June and 14 September with the same period last year.
Incidents including assault, disorderly behaviour and property damage occurring within the CCTV coverage area dropped 50 per cent.
However although current data proves CCTV has reduced incidents across the board, it has not stopped violent attacks, especially in the Stirling Terrace precinct.
Senior Sergeant Trevor Evans said that while CCTV cameras in the area may not stop people committing offences the system allows police to monitor it.
